Reverend Dr. C. Edward Preston was born December 15, 1959 in Cordele, Georgia. His Christian walk began at the young age of 8 years old. He was called to the Preaching Ministry at Mount Ararat Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Dr. R. Thaddeus Williams. In February 1990 St. John Missionary Baptist Church of Orange Park, Florida called C. Edward Preston to fill the position of Pastor vacated by the late Reverend T. Nimmons. After the ordination service at Mount Tabor Baptist Church of Palatka, Florida by Moderator R.L. Wilson, Reverend Preston was installed as pastor in March 1990. His love of preaching and eagerness to let God guide his footsteps caused the church to grow both spiritually and physically.
Reverend Preston’s motto to reach the lost one soul at a time was the true vision inspired by God. He is well aware of God’s plan to use him in the uplifting of the kingdom through his preaching and teaching this also allowed him to endeavor all obstacles. Through his pastorship St. John membership grew to the point a second service was established. In 1995 the church went through a renovation of the sanctuary and annex building to accommodate the growth. In 1999 the pastor was inspired with a new vision to purchase 8.42 acres of land in Middleburg Florida for a new church. The vision became reality in February 2007 for the now St. John Missionary Church of Middleburg, Florida. In September 2009 the Mound Street Christian Academy open it door as an institution of education. The Pastor’s vision is “To celebrate the presence of God reaching and reproducing, within the area and the surrounding communities, a people… inspired and equipped with a passion for the truth of Christ, and his compassion for others who will be enablers of change for the disenfranchised”.
